During a time in my former life while working in a hospital, there was the cutest older gentleman that had an extremely frightful open sore on his foot. As I entered the room, the nurse was cleaning out the wound and he was an extreme amount of pain. I held tightly onto his hand and rattled around in my brain what one says to a man that is sweating and shaking from the procedure to get his mind going elsewhere. I quickly asked, when you’re not being tortured by the nursing staff in a hospital, what do you like to do? He look and me, smiled, and said I loved to bowl. It was astounding to me that anyone would think of that as their happy place when asked. I too enjoy bowling, and we talked about when I would keep score for my parents bowling league, with my Aunt Mary. She also, taught me the fine skill of making fresh tortillas, one I still haven’t mastered.
